The brief

It started with a question

Could a podcast about climate action work by interviewing regular people, not just experts, and could it hold up in video, not just audio? Kim came to Daring Media with a peer-reviewed framework and a clear voice. The job was to turn that into a show that looked and sounded like it belonged on the BBC.

The build

Six stages, one broadcast standard

01

Facts, feelings, action

The show's framework is built on Kim's own peer-reviewed research into five high-impact climate actions available to citizens, professionals, investors, consumers and role models. Several became whole episodes.

02

Finding the right voice

We sourced guests and matched every episode theme to someone who actually lives it, then briefed each interviewee in advance so they arrived ready, not performing.

03

Where it comes alive

Real conversation, not a script. Every episode is filmed as a genuine exchange between Kim and her guest, camera-ready but unscripted.

04

Shaping the story

Hours of conversation, professionally packaged to a broadcast standard, multi-camera edits, sound design and pacing built for both long-form video and audio-only listeners.

05

Reviewing and fact-checking

Because the show is science-backed, every episode was fact-checked and reviewed frame by frame on a big screen before release, overseen, unofficially, by editor-at-large Ralph the dog.

06

Getting it in front of the right people

Optimised show notes, a full social asset set, and launch-day coordination across a 20-plus person launch team.

Promo strategy

Reels that got people talking

Every episode was cut into short, branded reels and posted across Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn. Each one was edited to stop mid-conversation — pulling out moments that were scientific, surprising, or genuinely funny. The strategy worked: within a few weeks the audience was sharing the content and having their own conversations in the comments.

Getting it in front of the right audiences

A podcast launch is not just a publish — it is a distribution campaign. We identify the newsletters, communities and organisations that the target audience already trusts, and we make sure they know the show exists. For Climate Actually, that meant landing in some of the most-read publications in the climate world, before and after launch.
